Planning

Planning - First Drafts;

Front page;

Here is my draft of my front page, influenced by the front cover of Kerrang. I had many different influences onto my first draft of my front cover, this helped a lot for my masthead and layout. The colours and typeface I used support the stereotypical rock genre, like Kerrang. I used the idea of an advertorial techniques for posters to lure in more readers. I used the idea of the large main image and text covering over it. I liked these idea because they were different to other genres of music magazines.

Contents page;

Here you can see my draft of my contents page, again with a strong influence of the rock magazine Kerrang. This influenced me through again colour schemes and the idea of having an image take up half of the page. The idea of having my heading at the top of my page rather then down the side. Although, I changed it by having my image on the left hand side and text on the right had side rather then over the top and text on the bottom.

Double page spread;

Here you can see my double page spread, magazine highly influence by Kerrang. I used a conventional magazine double page spread layout and used the idea of having one main image within the double page spread and the text surrounding it. I also used the idea of having the main heading cover the top of my double page spread. I used the same colours scheme throughout, continuing to my double page spread.

Option 2 - front page and contents page;

Here i have another option for both my front page and contents page. This was so I could experiment on layout and where I would place my masthead.

Interview for double page spread;

Here you can see my interview for my double page spread. It is approximately 1500 words and should keep the the audience interested. The interview is about a new band revealing their past which has never been revealed before. I am planning on writing the questions in red so they stand out on the page, so the reader can easily navigate to a question read it and it should lure the reader in. On this draft I have written what i am planning on having the headline and strap line on the article.

Interview double page spread.

Prezi presentation of pitch for Revolution music magazine;

Here you can find my pitch for my music magazine Revolution created using a prezi presentation. This helped a lot as it made me concentrate on my main ideas of my magazine and how this will provide an understand for my magazine.

Development of intital planning ideas;

Here you can see my questions for the public to vote on my masthead name for my magazine the typeface i will use on my magazine. This helped to i knew that the target audience would be interested into how the magazine looks.

The vote came out as the third one down being the most popular typeface so i will be using this on my final magazine.  I will do this because it then means i know for sure that the majority of my target audience will appeal to this typeface.
 Here you can see my options for names of mastheads for my magazine and Revolution one with the slogan of the revolution of rock magazine. I added slogans as i thought this would create a clear brand identity for my music magazine.

Second draft for Revolution magazine;

Contents page for second draft. This was done as a rough so i could experiment other ways of presenting my ideas. The idea of having the contents written down the side would make it unique and stand out. I have labelled my contents page with the most important details of my draft.
Double page spread for second draft. This was done as a rough again so i could experiment with the layout and appearance of my double page spread. I have also labelled this with the most important details.

Front page for second draft. Again this was done a rough time to experiment other ways of laying out my front page and advertising what was available. The most important details are also labelled on this image and will able to be read if enlarged.

 Final Revolution magazine drafts;

Here you can see my front page for my revolution music magazine. If you enlarge it you can see the details as to why i chose to present the way i have. I chose this one over my other drafts as i believe it is more appealing to the eye and will draw my target audience in more.

Here you can see my final draft of my contents page. Again, if you enlarge it you can see my fine details of why i choose to present them the way i have. I choose this one over my other drafts  as i believe this is presented in a more informal way and will make it easier for the readers to navigate around my magazine.

Here you cans see my final draft of my double page spread and again you can enlarge my image to see the details of my choices. I choose this one over my other drafts as i believe it will draw in the readers attention better and looks more presentable.

Computer drafts for layout of magazine;

Front page computer draft;
By creating this computer draft of my front page it helped me concentrate on how I wanted the layout for my magazine. this ensures it will fit my genre and appeals to my target audience. This will also make it a lot easier to create my final front cover as I have already concentrated on how I want my layout. My main image will cover the background of my drafts and faded out and this ensures that my text and other images will stand out.
Content page computer draft;

This also will help me in the future for creating my content page. I wanted to experiment with the layout of this as i wanted the image to be in an unconventional place for a typical magazine. I have chosen this because it then matches my genre and will stand out in my magazine. I will be using a white background on my contents page to ensure my text and images will stand out.

Double page spread computer draft;

Here i have also experimented with the layout and created a tidy double page spread. This will also speed up the process of creating my final revolution magazine. I will use several images within this double page and spread and it is clearly written on the drafts of the colouring i will be using. I will be using a white background for my double page spread to ensure the images and text will stand out.

  1. Your planning page is very detailed and demonstrates effectively your decision making process. Your drafts are thorough and convey a strong appreciation of magazine conventions. Keep building on this by ensuring that you upload every element of your planning stage, including things like your plans for your photo shoot, etc.

    Pitch:

    Solid. You have clearly considered your chosen genre well as well as who your potential audience will be. You could jazz it up more by using pictures and videos to demonstrate your points even more because at the moment it is a little bland.

    Overall, continue to document all aspects of your planning in order to access level 4.
